It is difficult to overrate influence of Maxwell's theory to development of science and engineering in 20-th century. This theory has predicted existence of an electromagnetic wave and one has described its internal structure. This theory has coupled together electromagnetic waves and light. The works of Heinrich Hertz has brought the Maxwell's theory to the triumph. Hertz has confirmed the basic positions of this theory experimentally, and also has reduced Maxwell's equations to a modern view. This theory is basis of a modern electrodynamics not incidentally. It impresses of the completed and stable physical theory, it correlate with experimental material and explains its. Is it necessary whether anything else? The Maxwell's theory was being developed intensively in 20-th century, however this development wore larger the quantitative character, than qualitative. So, basic equations of Maxwell practically have not undergone changes during more than hundred years, however the large quantity of the applications of these equations to different areas of a science and technique has appeared. Today it is possible to speak about existence of several electrodynamics:
/Citation/ The electrodynamics can be considered from the point of view of two different approaches - microscopic and macroscopic. The first theory is based on the laws describing interaction of a field and point particles, which ones are grouped frequently together into stable complexes, such as atoms and molecules; the second describes interaction of fields with a continuous medium. Both theories are closely coupled with each other. /end of citation/ [15] page 9. |
